February 20th update

The video from the first service at Whitworth Chapel is now available. The website is
https://vimeo.com/86583410   and the password: curry.   I do not know if we will be making a video
of the Green Bay service.  Our family was very thankful and pleased to have this video of
this tribute to Nancy and can share it with you.

We will have CD's of Nancy playing the piano available after about March 5th.  I will put the info to get those on the blog.  We will simply mail you your copy.  The CD is Nancy playing 10 hymns and was recorded at home on her piano.

Our family has been supported almost beyond belief.  Thank you all, BC

February 12th update

Our first service was held Saturday morning at Whitworth.  I am sure Nancy would have been pleased with the service and humbled by the number of attendees.  Thank you's go to Terry MeGonigal for all his efforts in making this happen, Beck Taylor for his welcome, to Bonnie Robinson for playing and for accompanying Mike on his song, Megan Weddle for her piano playing, Bill Robinson for a wonderful message, Cindy Lupton, Merrie Tomlin, Marlene Alberian for their readings, and to Todd, Ally and Mike Curry for their parts.  Our family was supported by Whitworth in every way.  And to our friends who traveled, thank you.

A CD of Nancy's song was given out at the service. These will be made availble and shipped to those who could not attend either service.  We will update the blog on how to do this after the March 1st service.

March 1, 2014 11:00am at the Suamico United Methodist Church in Suamico, Wisconsin will be the second Memorial service.

The Green Bay service is set for March 1st.  We will be at the Suamico church that Nancy attended as a child and where we were married.  Times and more details will follow.

Our family has been totally supported in so many ways.  Your kindness is incredible.  Thank you does not seem enough.....blessings, BC

January 27th update

Nancy's Spokane service will be held at the Chapel on Whitworth University campus on Saturday, February 8th at 10:00am.  Nancy and I met at Whitworth, our son Mike also graduated from there.  Whitworth has been and will continue to be a very big part of our family's life. Donation's to Whitworth in Nancy's honor was her request.

There have been so many nice thoughts and actions by our friends over the fight with cancer.  Our family cannot say thank you enough for the kindness. Blessings to all, BC

The Green Bay dates will be published when they are known.

January 23rd update

First, I have tried to call many of the followers of this blog.  I am sorry if I missed you.  Nancy went to be with the Lord at 4:45 this afternoon.  She was only on high doses of morphine for just over one day.   She is now in a better place.  We do not have plans yet for services.  There will be two, one in Spokane and one in Green Bay.  The outpouring of love for my wife will never be forgotten.  Our family has been blessed with such great friends.  Thank you all, BC

January 20th update

Nancy did not rebound yesterday.  She spent the day in bed.  She was on pain meds all day.  We did have some short conversations with her.  For parts of the day our family took turns just being alone in the room with Nancy.  Thank you for the terrific support.

January 19th update

Yesterday was very different for Nancy.  She did not get up until after 1:00.  Soon after, she asked for pain meds.  We did give her medication and got the pain under control but she then slept in her chair basically the rest of the day.  We had limited times to converse with her.  It is Sunday morning and she is still sleeping.  Hospice tells me today she could rebound some.  Thanks for all your calls, emails, texts and well wishes.  Todd and Ally are now here to Tuesday and Mike is still here as well.

Since the Packers are not playing today, Go Hawks!

January 16th update

Nancy continues to mostly sleep.  What is wonderful is that she continues to need almost no pain medication.  Yesterday she asked for her phone and called her parents in Green Bay.  Todd and Ally are both here now as well.  We have almost around the clock care for Nancy.  Your support is humbling.  Thank you!

January 5th Update

Nancy celebrated her birthday January 2nd. We took that day as a medical holiday (no appointments). On Friday we had a 2:00 with the Doctors. Mike and Nancy’s sister Sharon were also with us at this appointment. The blood draw for labs was routine. After review of Nancy’s low numbers (like platelets at 26,000) and her lack of strength, it was determined by the doctors that Nancy’s body could no longer take the treatments for cancer. Dr Anthony and Shanna Majors walked us through the logic and steps going forward for Nancy’s care. Arrangements were made to meet the next day with Hospice of Spokane. The cancer is no longer being treated and all efforts are to make Nancy as comfortable as possible. Nancy could have months or weeks left. Although no one knows, Anthony prepared us that this would likely be on the shorter end of that estimate. Nancy has been discussing the quality of life versus quantity of life since before Thanksgiving. She has been fighting this disease for four and a half years.

We met yesterday to sign up with the Hospice Rep. The first meeting with the nurse and social worker will take place early this week.

Going forward there will be an effort to balance Nancy seeing friends, family time, making arrangements for her wishes, and rest. We will try to support time with Nancy as best we can; however we are warned that her time will need to be very limited. Since the cancer will not be getting treated, her limited strength will be even more compromised. Please understand if we cannot schedule time for you with Nancy.

Nancy has very strong faith and knows where she is going. She feels blessed by all the wonderful support by our wonderful friends. Thank you.
